Hello! Spring is here! Ahhh do you feel it! I just love Spring.

spring

I love seeing all the plants bloom their beautiful colors again. The fresh crisp air hitting my face. Then BAM! Allergies from hell. Hahaha! For real though, I do love Spring.  I love winter too but I don’t like seeing everything dead for so long. I love going with my husband to the store to buy new plants to make our garden look pretty again. It’s just so much fun gardening together. It’s a great bonding experience.

All this Spring stuff got me inspired to make some DIY’s. I have been wanting to make some fairy gardens to place outside my home. I LOVE succulents. They are my favorite plant. I have a lot of fresh succulents outside and inside my home as well as fake ones. I got inspired to make a clay pot fountain with succulents in them. I ran to my local Michaels to plan this whole thing out. I went to the clay pot section and was playing around with different sizes of clay pots and clay plates. I eventually came up with something that I was pleased with. Now all I needed were succulents. So I left my little clay pot fountain there on the floor and ran to the succulent section which wasn’t too far. I played around with colors running back and forth. An employee saw me and gave me this weird look wondering what the heck I was doing. I felt my face getting red. Haha.  This is how it turned out.

I love how my succulent clay pot fountain turned out.  It was very easy to make. Here is what you need. Now remember, you can use any plants or succulents that you want. You can also use any size of clay pots and clay plates. These are the supplies I used.

Supplies:

-3 Clay pots (Michaels)

  • Size 5 1/2 inch, 4 inch, and 2 inch

-3 Clay plates (Michaels)

  • Size 8 inch, 4 inch, and 3 inch

-Succulents of any kind

-Moss

  • Mixture of Moss (Michaels)
  • Deer Moss (Michaels)
  • Spanish Moss (Dollar Tree)

-Fairy Mushroom House (Dollar General)

-Moss Bunny (Hobby Lobby)

-Hot glue gun or E6000

You are going to start off from biggest to smallest. Start off with the big clay plate (8 inch).  Grab the biggest clay pot (5 1/2 inch) and hot glue it upside down to the center of the big clay plate.

If you want a sturdier fountain and are going to use it outside where it will be exposed to the weather use E6000. Next, hot glue the next clay plate (4 inch) on top of the clay pot you just hot glued. Make sure its centered.

This is what it should look like.

Now you will hot glue the 4 inch clay pot  upside down in the center of the plate you just hot glued.

Last, you will hot glue the last clay plate (3 inch) to the clay pot you just hot glued and the last clay pot (2inch) upright at the top.

Your fountain is now assembled.

Now you will  fill in with the different types of Moss.

I first used bag of mixture of moss and hot glued pieces all around the plates. I also hot glued a few pieces of deer moss here and there.

Inside the top of the upright clay pot, I filled it in with Spanish Moss. I had some fake fern like plants and placed them inside. I used two. Again this is the very top of the fountain. I put a little hot glue on the stems of each fern and placed it inside with the pot so they can stick to the Spanish Moss.

Once you are satisfied with the amount of moss placed, start hot gluing the succulents around the clay pot fountain. The succulents have stems so make sure you cut those off all the way. I began first by hot gluing the  fairy mushroom house in the second row of the fountain in the center. Then I hot glued the moss bunny in the center of the last row of the clay pot.

I then, begin to glue all the succulents around the fountain. If there are gaps showing add more moss. Your succulent clay pot fountain is now complete!
