Hi everyone! Today I have two last fall DIYs that I did in the month of October. This year I went to the Texas Renaissance Fair! It was so magical and so much fun! I have been to a Renaissance Fair in Florida before but this one was so much better. It is the biggest Renaissance fair in the world. Everything was so beautiful! The shops and buildings were decorated beautifully. All with pretty fall colors. The shops had some wonderful hand made crafts. I bought a fall leaf necklace. The music was serene and beautiful as well. Every weekend they had a different theme. I decided to go on a weekend where the theme was fairies. I LOVE fairies so I decided that I wanted to dress up as a Fall/Autumn fairy. There were a lot of women and children dressed up as fairies. There were also male fairies! Something I never thought I would see. Everyone looked great in their own unique way. My husband didn’t dress up. He’s not into fairies but to make me happy he took me to this event. I got a lot of compliments on my make-up, crown, and wings. They asked if I made my crown and wings a lot too. Yes I did! I’m a crafter! I know they sell pretty floral crowns there at the Renaissance fair but they can be kind of pricey. So I went ahead a made my own that fit my budget. I also wanted something different and unique. I wore a red dress to go with the color scheme of my crown and wings. I wish I could have added some fall leaves on my dress but I didn’t have the time. Making the wings was very time consuming. I just didn’t have time to work on the dress. Here is what my fall leaf crown and wings looked like!
I just love how it turned out! This crown was rather easy for me to make. Here are the materials I used. I bought most of my fall leaves at Dollar Tree. Others I already had or bought at Walmart.
I did not use those sun flowers however. They seemed too big for my head so I used the leaves instead. I started off by making a circlet with the floral wire and just started hot gluing the leaves around it. I hot glued the leaves on the inside as well so the circlet wouldn’t scratch my forehead. To make it look full I glued some leaves upright and others upside down. Lastly, I added some beaded fall wreath picks that I found at Hobby Lobby on each side. This gave it the final look I was looking for. I wanted it to fit my personality. Bright, sparkly, and girly.
I am so in love with this fall leaf crown. I didn’t think it would come out as pretty as I had imagined it. It was just perfect. I once made a floral crown and I did not like it one bit. It looked so huge on my head. I took my time with this crown but I was so nervous it would not turn out as I had imagined it in my head. I can’t wait to use this again next year. Only I will work on a fall dress with colorful leaves like this one. On to the wings! As I mentioned earlier, the wings were very time consuming. I bought the wings at Michaels and glued all the leaves on both sides of the wings. I overlapped every leaf so there wouldn’t be any visible spots of the pink and yellow material on the wings.
That is it! I wish I could post what my overall costume looked like but I am very private when it comes to posting my pictures online. There are many people who bully you or use your photos without your permission. I don’t want to go through that. I don’t mind posting all my DIYs but when it comes to pictures of me, it is very uncomfortable. Hope you understand. Have a great day!
